Introduction

The purpose of this policy is to explain how Brightminds Tuition collects, protects and uses personal data. Brightminds Tuition is committed to ensuring that any personal data supplied by its clients is collected and processed fairly and lawfully in accordance with GDPR guidelines. 

In collecting this information, I (namely Hannah Lucas – referred to as “I”, “me” or “my” in this privacy notice) am acting as a data controller and by law I am required to provide you with information about why and how Brightminds Tuition uses your data and about the rights you have over your data.

Brightminds Tuition needs certain types of personal data to enable it to provide its service to its clients. The personal data collected will generally include the following information:

How does Brightminds Tuition obtain the personal information and why do we have it?

The personal information that we process is provided to us directly by you for the following reason:

3.1. For the purpose of communicating with you regarding appointments, the progress of your child, to invoice bills and to send receipts. Our lawful basis for processing this data is both contractual and legitimate interests.

How do we store and protect your personal information?

Brightminds Tuition takes clients confidentiality and security very seriously. We have put in place security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, altered, disclosed or accessed without authorisation. Your information is securely stored on electronic devices namely, the business mobile phone, laptop and iPad which are all password protected. I will keep your personal information for the duration that you employ Brightminds Tuition as a tutor for your child. At the end of the contract your personal data and that of your child will be electronically deleted.

For tax purposes the law requires me to keep basic information about my clients, such as name and any financial transaction data for a period of six years after they stop being my client. Brightminds Tuition does not pass on any client’s personal information to third parties.

If you should decide to leave a review about Brightminds Tuition this is implied consent for your permission to copy and paste your review onto our website for the purpose of growing the business.

Your responsibility and duty of care.

5.1 By providing us with your data, you are stating that you are over the age of 18 years old.

5.2 You are the legal parent/ guardian of the child you are requiring to be tutored by Brightminds Tuition and therefore grant access to the use of their personal data. i.e.their full name and email address (where applicable).

5.3 If taking part in online tuition, you (parent/ guardian) are responsible for the security of your child’s login and password. You keep it safe and do not share it with others. Your child always logs out after their session ends to ensure that others cannot access their private personal information. You should take precaution if you are using a public computer such as at a library or internet café.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask me for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask me to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask me to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask me to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask me to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
